ANNOUNCEMENTS
COVE POINT LNG
We received the below notice from the LNG plant advising of upcoming maintenance/inspection work. All questions or concerns should be directed to Mr. George Anas at 410-830-0601.
I am writing to inform you that the Cove Point LNG terminal will begin a scheduled
maintenance and comprehensive inspection outage on Monday, September 14, 2026, and
work is expected to last approximately five weeks.
During the beginning and conclusion of the outage, residents may notice:
-Increased contractor and employee traffic on Cove Point Road
-Higher-than-normal sound levels associated with equipment shutdown and startup activities
-A temporary odor commonly associated with natural gas during certain maintenance activities
We wanted to make you aware of these planned activities in advance in the event you inquiries from
residents. If you have any questions or would like additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
ABANDONED BOATS
I want to thank all those property owners that responded to our inquiries about matching boats on the beach with property owners. I’m pleased to report progress…most boats have been identified and linked to their owner, and some boats and a trailer have been removed from the beach by their owners. However, there are four (4) unregistered boats that are in very poor condition, have not been moved in years, and no one has claimed ownership. Accordingly, we are making one final attempt to identifying the owners. If you are the owner of one or more of these boats, or have any pertinent information on possible ownership, you have 21-calendar days in which to notify us. If after September 7, 2026 the ownership of the boats in question have not been determined, the Association will begin disposal actions.
COVE POINT LIGHTHOUSE RENOVATION SUMMER/FALL 2026
An exciting preservation project will be taking place at Cove Point Lighthouse during this summer/fall season. From July 20 through October 30, the lighthouse tower will undergo a major restoration by ICC Commonwealth Historic Preservation in preparation for the lighthouse's 200th anniversary celebration. This important work will help preserve the historic structure for future generations while ensuring it remains a treasured landmark for years to come. Visitors are welcome to remain onsite throughout the renovation period. However, please be aware that:
-Scaffolding may surround portions of the lighthouse tower.
-Construction-related noise may be audible at times, including equipment generators and restoration activities.
-Contractors will be working onsite Monday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
AirBnB guests at the lighthouse were offered options to keep their reservations, reschedule their visit, or request a refund.
FIREWORKS
As the Independence Day holiday is near, I want to ask for your help in keeping everyone safe. As you may know, Calvert County is in a 10-month long extreme drought and as such vegetation is dangerously dry and fire risks are very high.
Parents are reminded to provide close personal supervision if fireworks are released. If there is any breeze blowing toward shore, DO NOT light your fireworks. Remember: the grass and shrubs on the beach are extremely dry. If there is any wind blowing from the bay toward shore, you may have to wait until the next night.
Remember, only gold-labeled sparklers, novelty items (I.e. party poppers, snap pops, snakes), and ground-based sparkler devices are permitted in Calvert County.

BOAT INVENTORY
We’ve made some progress in identifying boats, kayaks and paddle boards on the beach and matching them with their owners…see Inventory Listing. However, there are still some boats, etc. that need to be identified…some of which may be truly abandoned vs not being used. If you have already submitted the Boat Inventory Form there’s nothing more for you to do and thanks for your help.

SAFETY REMINDERS
NO SWIMMING AT THE POINT
Swimming at and around the point by the lighthouse is strictly prohibited due to severe currents. Please make sure you family and friends are aware of this. Calvert County has large signs posted at the point and the Association has signs at each entrance to the beach.
OBEY THE POSTED SPEED LIMITS
With more residents and vistors driving on our roads during the summer season, please obey the posted speed limits and watch for children playing and riding bikes in our community. The speed limit on Lighthouse Blvd. is 25 MPH and 15 MPH on all other streets.
GOLF CARTS
1. Kids who are 12 years or older may only drive golf carts when they are accompanied by an adult (parent or guardian); minors 16 or older may only drive alone if they have a driver’s license.
2. A golf cart driven by a minor without an adult or a driver’s license is illegal. If an underage driver gets into an accident driving a golf cart, the child or his/her parents would be liable for the damages incurred.
3. According to Maryland’s Department of Motor Vehicles, golf carts cannot legally operate on public roadways, such as Lighthouse Blvd. unless they are “street-ready.” The exception is a golf cart crossing a street to continue its journey to another portion of a private property.
So please, follow these simple rules and everyone will enjoy a safe summer!
